KC Super Sounds is a world-class recording studio in Kansas City’s historic River Market district, built inside a beautifully repurposed 2,400-square-foot warehouse designed for sound, vibe, and creativity.

The studio features a massive, ultra-comfortable control room, a wide-open live room, and three fully isolated booths—including a drum room, a dedicated vocal booth, and an amp booth—giving artists total flexibility to create without limits. From rare vintage pieces to cutting-edge modern equipment, KC Super Sounds houses an incredible collection of gear, microphones, and instruments, all meticulously curated to capture exactly what you hear and bring it to life on tape.

KC Super Sounds also offers professional mastering, powered by some of the finest tube and analog mastering gear available. Our Manley SLAM! and Manley Massive Passive deliver depth, clarity, and impact that help your tracks stand above the rest.

Eric Bauer - KC Super Sounds owner/ head engineer

Eric Bauer is a producer and grammy nominated recording engineer. He was born and raised in Kansas City, MO and went to school in Lawrence at the University of Kansas . After school he moved to San Francisco and immersed himself in the thriving 2000s art and music scene there as an experimental musician and graphic artist. From humble beginnings he began to record and produce bay area and west coast artists, in many cases resulting in genre-defining albums of 21st century garage, psych and underground rock for Ty Segall, Oh Sees, Heron Oblivion and Mikal Cronin to name just a few. 

From 2010 to 2020 Bauer expanded his gear arsenal and creative and technical expertise at Bauer Mansion, a studio in San Francisco’s Chinatown that was a hotbed of creative music work and sonic influence on the underground and indie world stage for the length of its existence. At The Mansion he engineered, mixed and produced successful albums for record labels like Drag City, Sub Pop, Merge, In the Red, Goner, Black Editions and Woodsist among many more. 

In 2020 Bauer (also long-time Oh Sees producer and studio engineer) and John Dwyer (Oh Sees/ Castle Face and Death God Records) built and ran Discount Mirrors, a world class recording studio in Highland Park, Los Angeles. 

Eric Bauer’s newest studio, KC Super Sounds in Kansas City, MO is a geographical return to his roots and yet another inspired extension of his career-long vision to create an affordable, immersive, artist-centric studio environment for the production of excellent creative work on any budget. 

KC Super Sounds was created to be a studio that in attitude and practicality can equally serve the needs of a band’s first album recording or a large scale industry production or event. 

Known for his easy going personality and an iconoclastic sonic and creative perspective, there are few that have worked with Eric Bauer that don’t consider him a long term friend and musical family.
